Most of what goes wrong has a two-line answer, so those are first. If none of them fit, there is a real address at the bottom and a person behind it.
Where it works
These are read automatically, with no action from you:
LinkedIn, Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, Workday and SmartRecruiters.
On any other careers page, click the Score This Job icon. If the page publishes standard job data — as most employer career sites do, so that Google can list them — it is read too. Anywhere else, paste the posting into the box.
This list is here rather than in the Chrome Web Store description because it changes as sites change their layouts, and a store listing is slower to correct than a page.
The common ones
It says it cannot read this page
LinkedIn, Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, Workday and SmartRecruiters are read automatically. On any other careers page, click the Score This Job icon first — that grants the panel one tab, once. If it still cannot find a posting, the page is probably not one, or the site has changed its layout. Paste the text into the box and score it that way; then tell us, because a layout change is ours to fix.
Indeed and Glassdoor do nothing
They are not supported. Indeed blocks automated readers outright, so extraction for it could not be written or tested against a real page, and shipping a guess would mean scoring whatever text happened to be there. Copy the posting and paste it in.
I get the listing half but not the match
The match half needs a CV on file. Add one on your account page and the next score compares against it. The listing check works without an account and always will.
I have run out of scores
The free plan is 10 scores a calendar month and resets on the first. Whether a job is real is free and stays free; the detailed CV gap list — which requirements you miss — is the paid tier.
It signed me out
The session is meant to survive closing the browser. If you are asked to sign in again on every launch, something is clearing extension storage — usually a privacy extension or a “clear data on exit” setting. Tell us which, and we will reproduce it.
The score looks wrong
It may be. The score is a rule-based comparison of two pieces of text and it is wrong in ways a human never would be. What the score is spells out what it can and cannot tell you. If a specific posting scored in a way you can explain and we cannot, send it — those are the reports that change the engine.
Your data, without asking us
Both of these are buttons, not requests. A policy that promises what the software does not do immediately is a weaker policy.
Take it with you
Download my data on the account page returns everything held against your account, as JSON.
Delete it
Deleting a resume removes it immediately. Deleting the account removes it, every resume, and the score history, immediately and irreversibly.
Stop contributing postings
The switch at the foot of the side panel turns off reporting the postings you open, and deletes the install identifier with it. The privacy policy says exactly what those reports contain.
Reporting a posting that read badly
This is the most useful thing you can send, and the least obvious. The extension is reading pages written by hundreds of different employers, and it gets some of them wrong: a pay range read as a job title, a requirement missed, a whole page of search results scored as one job.
Send the URL of the posting and what the panel said about it. The URL matters more than a screenshot — it lets us capture the page as a test, which is the only kind of fix that stays fixed.
Reaching a person
hello@scorethisjob.com. One person reads it, usually within two working days. There is no ticket system and no chatbot.
Four things make a reply useful rather than a question back:
- The URL of the job posting, if it is about one.
- What you expected and what happened instead.
- Your browser, and whether it is Chrome or something built on it.
- The extension version, from
chrome://extensions.
For anything that looks like a security problem, mail the same address with “security” in the subject and please do not post it publicly first. We will confirm receipt and tell you what we find.
